Our mission at IPD is to create and manage autonomous research institutes for specific disease states and technologies.

At our flagship institute, The Institute for Diabetes Discovery, LLC, (IDD), research is directed to small molecule drugs for the prevention and treatment of obesity, diabetes, and its complications, which can lead to blindness, amputation, and kidney and heart disease. The World Health Organization has declared diabetes a worldwide epidemic; at present, 100 million people are believed to have diabetes, and that number is expected to double in the first decade of the 21st century. The goal of the Institute for Bioanalytics, LLC, (IBA), is the delivery of customized methods to quantitate biomarkers relevant to drug efficacy, toxicity and disease using its expertise in biotechnology, proteomics and genomics. IBA utilizes its extensive experience in assay development, performance validation and regulatory approval to develop customized bioanalytical assays either as a research tool or to support clinical development and product marketing. The Institute for Neurosensory Discovery (IND) will focus its research efforts on novel therapeutics for dermatological and pain disorders. A team of experienced scientists in this specialty area is being assembled and the institute is expected to become operational in 2003.
