IPD occupies a 48,000 sq. ft. research facility in Branford, CT, which is equipped with modern instrumentation necessary for drug discovery research. The research team possesses core competencies in chemistry, in vitro assay development, in vivo pharmacology, and drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics. IDD’s and IBA’s staff has experience with a variety of molecular targets, such as kinases, phosphatases, G-protein coupled receptors, various enzyme targets, and cellular transporters. IPD’s researchers have filed over 25 patent applications on research performed at the Company and have worked on numerous drug research programs that have advanced to enter clinical studies including one compound that entered a Phase 2 clinical trial. As part of a focused research effort in the area of diabetes, IPD researchers have undertaken preclinical proof of concept programs in diabetic complications, insulin resistance, renal disease, inflammation, and cardiovascular disease.
