The Institutes for Pharmaceutical Discovery, LLC (IPD) is
a privately held company founded by James M.
Nolan, President and CEO, and Gordon Polley, Chairman.
IPD is managed by a cadre of experienced pharmaceutical
executives, financial managers and dedicated senior scientists, all of whom
have had extensive experience in pharmaceutical drug development.
This group also oversees the vision and function of each individual institute
it creates...
Our flagship institute, The Institute for Diabetes Discovery, LLC, (IDD),
was established in 1995. IDD has a discovery process that quickly takes
concepts from basic science all the way through the drug discovery process
to new drug application (IND) filing. This process includes the
characterization of new targets, proof of principle, development of
synthetic chemistry, preclinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetic evaluation,
toxicology, and pharmacodynamics. This would typically be the transfer point
to a chosen strategic global partner who would license the product, take it
to clinical trials, and oversee the manufacturing and marketing functions.

Our second institute, The Institute for Bioanalytics, LLC, (IBA),
founded in 1997, provides services for
pharmaceutical and diagnostic clients. IBA's services include
the development and validation of in vitro assays for
high throughput screening, measuring the physiological effects of a
particular agent, or helping identify the appropriate patients for a
given therapy through pharmacogenomic approaches. The development of
therapy-specific bioanalytical assays will enable physicians to target
patients more successfully for new therapeutical agents, thereby
increasing efficacy, minimizing the likelihood of deleterious side
effects and/or enhancing overall safety.
